Oil

When I grow up.... I want to learn to paint using oils. I had a lesson, once, a long long time ago when I was just a wee lassie of 12. My grandfather (not the one who bought the monkey) is an artist in his spare time (as was his wife and as was my other grandmother) and decided to teach me by coping a photo of a flower, I think called an Indian Paintbrush. He kept the finished painting up on the wall in his kitchen for over 20 years and then last year gave it to me.
So here on public display for the very first time I give you...

Goodness, I think that's jolly good. You should do more in some of that free time that you must have...

That is a really good painting! As Isabelle says.. but maybe when you get those 2 little boys off to school, & your time is your own. Well, bits of it, anyway.

You should do more, for sure. And get the free lessons in with your Grandfather while you can .. it sounds like he's still around?

You did that when you were 12? I think I was still using my fingers at that age! I hope you get a chance to do some more of it sometime in the future - sooner rather than later!

I'm pretty proud of that painting too and I'd love to do more but a. don't have the time, and b. There isn't anything I want to paint right now. I know if something catches my eye because I start drawing on the palm of my hand with a finger.

Ok, you've challenged me: I must compose a post on the joys of Crieff! It's not Crieff itself so much, although there's nothing much wrong with it, surely? - it's the Hydro and the surrounding countryside. And the memories over the years. But then, I never went to school there. I was on holiday. Quite different.

How on earth do you have time to blog with 2 small children? Do they sleep a lot? Do you anaesthetise them? Sing to them? Maybe you have a full-time nanny?

That's amazing for a 12 year old! You should definitely do more of it (when you grow up, of course).
