Penguins, Four Legged Furry

Ten years ago I shared a flat in Edinburgh with my sister and a large number of mice. The mice weren't our idea of ideal flatmates and after a mouse ran up my dressing gown and then down my bare leg we decided to get some kittens. One for my sister

(Froggy)

and one for me

(Velcro)
As I've posted before they turned out to be completely useless at catching mice (but rather good at dismembering giant spiders) but the smell of them kept the mice at bay in that flat. As kittens they loved water. It was not uncommon to go into the bathroom and find at least one of them sitting in the bath under the shower (and on one occasion, in the fish tank). And so they were christened the Four Legged Furry Penguins. Froggy will do anything for food - she worked out how to open the fridge in the flat in Edinburgh, and a few weeks back worked out how to get into our rubbish bin. Velcro is quieter, more reserved and very fond of cuddles.
P is also for Peace (and Quiet to follow) of which there is not much in this house. Isabelle to answer your question on how I have time to blog having 2 small children about - the Count sleeps through the night from around midnight till 11am which gives me time to do the housework and things with the FB in the morning, and then in the afternoon while the Count naps (big one for sleeping that boy) and the FB is playing I can blog, sew, read or gaze adoringly at ultraexpensive bags online.

I've wondered for AGES what it all meant - the Velcro thing and the 4 legged F P's!! Now I know.
Our cats loved water too. They were/are (they live with someone else now) part burmese and apparently burmese cats are obsessed with water.

Ahh, I get the blog name now :)

My two cats are strange with water. One will happily lay in the sink and won't move (even if you turn the water on gently, turn it on full and she'll shift - but you'll also get water everywhere). She will tolerate a bath if needed.

The other loves to sit in the bath tub, particularly after a shower but won't tolerate actually getting wet. No baths for her - she's the type that will climb up your arm and back with claws bared.

Shame that they sucked at mouse-catching but they are gorgeous!

I have never before heard of cats liking water? How odd. But how great that the smell of them kept the mice at bay!
I keep telling Gom we need a cat, but he wants to be the only one here!
It is nice that the Count likes his sleep so much!

Love the cats but... midnight to 11!!!!???? What on earth do you feed him on?

Mine were midnight to 6 or 7 if I was lucky, and then a couple of 20-minute naps during the day, only after I had bounced them to sleep for 20 exhausting minutes.

Lovely cats! I love cats. Photos of them always make me smile.

But I am not too keen on the fact that you keep sneaking the word "spiders" into a lot of your posts lately! :)

Our cats love water too...but it is a known thing with their particular breed (Bengals). Are yours well-behaved? Ours need reform school.

Midnight to 11am is an amazing stretch!!

Aha! I did wonder about the penguins, I knew it was your cats but thought it was to do with their markings, or something.

My cat hates water, and I have the scars to prove it after trying to bath him after he sat under our old oil leaking car one time.

Could the Count teach Little Miss T about sleeping through at long stretches?
