25 April 2007

Well things are a bit blahh here at present, hence the lack of posting. There isn't much to talk about really not unless you are interested in the four things going through my head

  • how on earth do I get this place clean and tidy before the Peanut makes his appearance and how am I going to keep it that way afterwards?
  • Changing bag decision needs to be made (pushchair was sorted, and was delivered this morning in two giant boxes). Was considering a Pink Lining one but it is out of stock everywhere grrr.
  • When I started writing this post a few days ago I was becoming not a little fixated on the missing wooden pram toys and the stuff under the bed. Well I am happy to announce that two days ago the FB and I mounted an expedition to the Caverns Under the Bed and have come back victorious. The toys have been found AND all the baby clothes sorted out by age and rebagged. It's quite incredible but the Peanut hasn't been born yet and already he has more clothes than both his father and myself put together.
  • the bump is now so colossal that none of my clothes will cover it. They fit everywhere else just not over Mount Everest. And yet despite this guess how many people have offered me a seat on the Underground recently. I'll give you a clue - it is the exact number of shoes owned by the average butterfly.

You see, not very exciting. My brain seems to be just not interested in anything right now except the few things above, Terry Pratchett novels, chocolate and the fact that I seem to be suffering elephantitis of the feet.

Oh and the sewing machine debacle.. I have to send it back to get the sewing needle out and the self threader looked at. It was very tempting MrsT to open it up and get it out myself but I just know that if I had done, something else would have gone wrong! It was one of those days.

Put those poor feet up and enjoy your book and chocolate. If you don't bother leaving the house, you don't have to worry about finding clothes to fit!

I remember those last few weeks well (if not fondly).

ali there is nothing I would love to do more, but alas that would mean being stuck indoors with a 3 year old for 4 weeks....

Never mind only 30 more trips up the hill to his nursery to go!

Ali's right. If you stay put you can just wrap a blanket around your naked body instead of clothes. Pleased to hear from you - I was thinking of you this morning and wondering why we hadn't heard from you.
Yeah, lie on the sofa, read, eat, sleep. You know you've earned it.

Sorry Kirsty! I didn't realise it had been so long between posts. Brain all foggy you see.

Re - Question 1. Could you treat yourself and outsource the cleaning? Either by paying someone or putting the hard word on your relatives?

Because sounds to me that what with your dodgy hips, the fact that you have to amuse the FB and the Mount Everest growing out front of you, you maybe shouldn't be the one doing it.

You really can't have enough baby clothes. I stocked up on all the baby onesies and footies I could.

Just a thought, have you tried that sewing machine place by Tooting Bec station, www.wimsew.com, they might be able to look at it for you there and then, they do Singers.

Which pushchair did you go for in the end?

Those last weeks are the toughest! All that pushing and pulling and that's just trying to get yourself off the couch!

I'm with the others. Put your feet up. Take the chance now!

Stomper I'm becoming a huge fan of egg timers - clean for 15 mins then when the alarm goes, sit down for 15 - 30 mins and then back to it again. Alas all my family live at the other end of the country and MrV's siblings who do live in London are all megabusy with their lives.

I can't get the sewing machine up there MrsT as I don't own a car and can't carry it that far. But curiously I was supposed to go to the craft shop this morning.

MF today is a very easy day. The FB has been bribed not to go to nursery as the hill is a little daunting!

That bag is gorgeous ( but so exxy ! ). I think I am the only woman alive that never owned a nappy-bag. I used to amuse my MG by turning up with my bebe and a purse that could hold some coins and a small mobile phone only.

Very impressed with your bag sorting thing. I would have a lot of trouble with that, because sizing is so out of whack. Today the boy has got on a NEW TOP - bought as a BIRTH present. It's marked "Size 0". This kid is a Size 3 !!

Ha at the Underground. I can believe it :)

It's gotta be getting warmer over there hasn't it? Forget trying to fit into clothes. Why not just go out showing your bump. You could write "I need to sit down" on it to see if you get more seat offers on the train... 3yo could wear a t-shirt saying "If you don't offer mummy a seat, she may eat you".

Isn't a bump hanging out fashionable or is that just here?

I can't believe people don't give up their seats. What a bunch of clueless nimrods.

Which Terry Pratchett(s)?

velcro said...

Caramaena all of them I think including the science of discworld books

Caro - see today's post for why the bump really shouldn't hang out (but does because nothing fits over it anymore).

mugs - hello! I love your suggestions especially the FB's tshirt one.

h&b alas none of those bags left. I tried to do without a changing bag when the FB was tiny and it didn't work. Anyway bag sorted out and actually packed! What did you do if you needed to change his nappy though?

Hi, very interesting post, greetings from Greece!
