"S all right for ducks!

this morning it rained, and rained and rained. And then it rained some more. And just when we thought it couldn't rain anymore it showed us how wrong we could be. That is a waterfall coming down into our backyard from the field above.

(the river opposite flooded its banks)

gorgeous sunshine now though

Just think, "Wow, we have a lovely water feature right here in our backyard!" We're hurting for rain here. Hope you're enjoying loads of sunshine now.

I'm thinking "wow part of our patio has collapsed as the ground beneath it has been washed away" but the waterfall was rather beautiful while it lasted even if it did prompt a phone call to the insurers to check that we have flood damage coverage

That's an incredible amount of run-off! But it is pretty.

I heard London received a month's rainfall in 2 days. No wonder you had a waterfall in your backyard

Oh dear, I hope your dad didn't take my advice and put fish in that river!

Nice waterfall, good side income, put a sign up out front and charge people money! Crazy Australians will come just to say "we have better ones in Orstraya", and the Japanese will photograph it.

Wow, that's a lot of rain!

And that river looks awfully close to me...I'm not surprised you rang the insurer.

Wow, I've not been at my computer much recently and have missed a lot. You were in Edinburgh! How exciting. And you moved. I do hope you haven't been flooded now. Your views look spectacular - are you sure you're in London?

As for the name-calling - a tricky one. I think I'd have a word with the parents along the lines of "our kids don't seem to be getting along very well" rather than "your kid is a horrible bully" (even though that's the case). I once had a private word with a child who was being nasty to Daughter 1 and of course this kid immediately told her mum... I felt very awkward about it and wished I'd just gone straight to the mum, however difficult that might have been.

Oh my goodness! That is a LOT of rain. Can't blame you for calling the insurance company to check in advance!

Recently received an e-mail from my sister in Ireland where they are having weather similar to yours. I short, unrelenting rain. In the title bar she wrote "A dispatch from God's toilet."

Wow, have just seen the footage of the floods across Britain. Hope all's well in your part of the world!
