Nancy Drew and the Case of the AWOL Wall

I've written in the past about some of the strange happenings in this flat; our on-site poltergeist MrsS and her penchant for bath plugs and clothes hangers, and the thing in the livingroom but last night took the biscuit...

Our garden wall disappeared.

Yup, that's right, it vanished. A waist high wall built out of roofing tiles that seperated our messy front yard from next door's equally messy yard, was there last night but this morning, all that's left is a tangle of ivy, some rather disgruntled spiders and a trail of dirt leading out of our gate and across the pavement. That last fact rather puts the culprit in the land of the living as the supernatural don't tend to leave dirt behind, ectoplasm yes, dirt no.

It could be a gang of Robin Hood style roofing contractors who go around at night replacing slipped roofing tiles on little old ladies' houses.

But like me, you live in South London so it's probably some architectural salvage merchant that spotted them and thought he'd make a fast buck.

Perhaps the thief is planning to use them as a shield.

Find the culprit, make him return the AWOL wall, then line stand him up in front of it and let him face the firing squad.....look what you started Isabelle!

Thanks for the tips about those books in your last post! I have already added The Kaminsky Cure to my wishlist - it's looking like a serious order for my next visit to The Book Depository! And I've seen the I'm Not Buying Book about but have been waiting for it in paperback!

As to the wall thing - simply weird :-)

What tha...??

Also to use the words of Isabelle's students....your AWOL Wall is in runes!

I am shaking my head, who would take a wall? Even if it was made of roofing tiles.

Wonders will never cease!

Yes I thought the wall was in runes too! Isabelle has provided us all with heaps of ideas.
Wonder how they got off with them all, as they are quite heavy?
Things that go thump in the night!

Goodness me, I'm quite excited about all these references! Sorry about your wall, though. How very spooky...

MrsT I like your first idea. Alas it was the landlord's son who is either a brickie or possibly an installation artist. Keep an eye open for future exhibits at Tate Modern. If they contain roofing slates complete with ivy and grumpy spiders then we know he's an artist.
Molly....round here the firing squad is very likely.
I love the idea of the wall in runes. Each slate engraved...
